Description:The current method of raw food production is largely a response to the growth of the fast food industry since the 1950s. The production of food overall has more drastically changed since that time than the several thousand years prior. Controlled primarily by a handful of multinational corporations, the global food production business - with an emphasis on the business - has as its unwritten goals production of large quantities of food at low direct inputs (most often subsidized) resulting in enormous profits, which in turn results in greater control of the global supply of food sources within these few companies. Health and safety (of the food itself, of the animals produced themselves, of the workers on the assembly lines, and of the consumers actually eating the food) are often overlooked by the companies, and are often overlooked by government in an effort to provide cheap food regardless of these negative consequences. Many of the changes are based on advancements in science and technology, but often have negative side effects. The answer that the companies have come up with is to throw more science at the problems to bandage the issues but not the root causes. The global food supply may be in crisis with lack of biodiversity, but can be changed on the demand side of the equation.

Description:"Let thy Food be thy Medicine and thy Medicine be thy Food." -- Hippocrates That's the message from the founding father of modern medicine echoed in the controversial new documentary film 'Food Matters' from first-time Producer-Directors James Colqhuoun and Laurentine ten Bosch.
"With nutritionally-depleted foods, chemical additives and our tendency to rely upon pharmaceutical drugs to treat what's wrong with our malnourished bodies, it's no wonder that modern society is getting sicker. 'Food Matters' sets about uncovering the trillion dollar
worldwide "Sickness Industry" and giving people some scientifically verifiable solutions for curing disease naturally." - James
And in what promises to be the most contentious idea put forward, the filmmakers have interviewed several world leaders in nutrition and natural healing who claim that not only are we harming our bodies with improper nutrition, but that the right kind of foods, supplements and detoxification can be used to treat chronic illnesses as fatal as terminally diagnosed cancer.
'Food Matters' is to be launched globally via the internet using full screen video technology.

Description:THE FUTURE OF FOOD offers an in-depth investigation into the disturbing truth behind the unlabeled, patented, genetically engineered foods that have quietly filled U.S. grocery store shelves for the past decade. From the prairies of Saskatchewan, Canada to the fields of Oaxaca, Mexico, this film gives a voice to farmers whose lives and livelihoods have been negatively impacted by this new technology. The health implications, government policies and push towards globalization are all part of the reason why many people are alarmed about the introduction of genetically altered crops into our food supply. Shot on location in the U.S., Canada and Mexico, The Future of Food examines the complex web of market and political forces that are changing what we eat as huge multinational corporations seek to control the world's food system. The film also explores alternatives to large-scale industrial agriculture, placing organic and sustainable agriculture as real solutions to the farm crisis today. The Future of Food reveals that there is a revolution going on in the farm fields and on the dinner tables of America, a revolution that is transforming the very nature of the food we eat.

Description:This is a good movie to see for anyone even slightly open to alternative medicine / holistic health. It was interesting to hear the success stories of people who were saved by Gerson Therapy, which I don't doubt a bit (I know people who have survived cancer using similar means).
It surprises me that some people are still so hostile to the fact that changes in diet can change a diagnosis like cancer. If you think about how you got cancer in the first place (just coincidence??? just genetics??? C'mon...) then it is easier to think about diet as cause, complication and/or cure. I guess it will just take time for more people to come around.

Q & A with T. Colin Campbell
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wxb7XPm_SxU

Description:Most Americans have grown up eating meat, poultry, dairy, and refined sugars: this is the normal American diet. What's not so normal is the amount of disease in this country especially considering our status as a civilized, wealthy society. We are dying of what are deemed "diseases of affluence" and central to the issue is our diet. Unfortunately this isn't well publicized because of the power of certain agricultural and special interest groups. In other words, the knowledge is out there but is hidden for the sake of economics. It should seem ironic, then, that the annual economic cost of diabetes alone is upwards of $98 billion.
So, the question is, how do we educate ourselves? The first thing to do is get more information. T. Colin Campbell, PhD. has devoted his life to studying nutrition and his book The China Study is, as is stated on the cover, "the most comprehensive study of nutrition ever conducted." In his book, Dr. Campbell discusses the findings of thousands of scientific research studies as they relate to diet and disease. Thousands of studies. This is the best information available to anyone interested in longevity and quality of life. The research is fascinating and the results are undeniable. One need not be a science major to understand the way the book is written. In addition to the research and hard evidence, Dr. Campbell shares why this information is not widely publicized and tips on how you can start leading a healthier life. It may seem like a difficultadjustment at first but so are cancer and osteoporosis. Done step-wise, a shift to a whole foods, plant-based diet is easy and will provide you health.
